Dish & digibox but no card

    Just wondering if you have a Sky dish (from previous house owner) and buy a Sky digibox privately (without a Sky card or Sky subscription) can you receive any channels?

    You can only get the Free to Air channels , but if you buy a Free to View card from Uk you will get extra channels aswell ITV 1/2 Channel 4 Five and BBC3/4 on you EPG...Well worth it if you are not interested in getting the sport and movie channels..

    The only extra channels of a Free To View card is ITV1, ITV2, C4 and Five.
    ITV1 to ITV4 will all work with no card inside next couple of months.

    IF you don't plan to get a subscription then a FTA receiver from satellite.ie or similar with NO card slot is cheaper.

    Without a card (FTA) you get about 70 Radio stations, 6/8 main BBC (about 22 in all inc regions), ITV3, Men&Motors, Matinee Movies, True Movies, Bad Movies, VAult, Chart Hits, POP, Tiny POP and many more.
    Over ten religious channels?
    Over 20 shopping channels.
    Various ethnic channels.

    Note CBBC & Cbeebies are part-time, they change into BBC3 & BBC4 at 7pm.
    THis confuses people "searching" for BBC3 & BBC4 during daytime!

    The Discovery Channels, Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Sky1, UK Gold, Drama etc need susbscription.

    Sky News, ITV News, BBC News24, CNN and Euronews are all FTA (no card needed).

    Rugby on S4C digidol on Saturday etc, the Welsh NAtional Sation is FTA. (no card)
