Is it true that there's vivisection in the new science building, or an urban myth?

I would imagine it's true. There's quite a bit of biomedical research going on in those parts, and they probably do use animal testing. But I'm not sure, so wait for someone who knows what they're talking about to reply..

Thats very true. There are all sorts of animal experiments going on in the old Hamilton building. The new building is mostly for Computer Science as far as I know. Vivisections have been taking place for years. Its just a basic fact in most scientific college courses.

gom is an arts student so doubt he'll know the specifics, if you really are that interested your better off reading the website of the dept and emailing a contact on it.

Animal based experiments occur in many of the departments in college. Psychology, biochemistry, zoology, physiology and genetics all do animal experiments. Mainly on rats and mice but also on zebrafish and eels. It's all overseen by a strict ethics board both within each of the departments and by an independent board. Basically it's the same as every other university on earth.
