Boards.ie = addictive !!!

I was stuck at home all weekend working (well, meant to be working anyway...), and I spent hours on boards.ie.

In fact, I have been spending more and more time on boards.ie lately, and I'm begining to wonder if the thing is addictive.

So, my question is, how long on average per day/week do you spend on boards.ie?

I must be hitting at least 10 hours this weekend alone...

Went through a Phase of being on for hours on end every day.
Spend about 4-5 hours or so a week on boards now.

My name is Laguna and I'm a Boardsaholic.

Yeah I'm addicted to the place, 2hrs a day usually. Is there a rehabilitation program available?

Before Boards.ie I used to have nearly a perfect life, I was living the Dundalk dream if you will. I hade a wonderful job, a great house, a beautiful and lovely girlfriend and most importanly my 2 beautiful little friends which I love dearly....now I've lost everything because of this website.

As he relates his tale of woe, Pighead shares one unforgettable detail with us. He says that in the depths of his addiction it became so hard for him to tear himself away from the computer that:

I decided to set up a little pot in my computer room so I wouldn't have to get up when I needed to go pee, as much as this may sound unbelivable I can assure you it's the truth.
Lying to family members, co-workers, fellow students, therapists, and others about the amount of time spent on the computer. "Look, you're wrong! I was only on my computer 22 hours yesterday, not 23. JBuzz off and annoy someone who cares. !"
Engaging in computer activities to experience pleasure, gratification, or relief. "Aaaargh! After Hours,I lov you.!"
Showing physical signs, such as backaches, dry eyes, neglect of personal hygiene or eating irregularities. "personal hygiene?A long and distant memory i'm afraid"

LOL, that's class, the Dundalk dream!, it sound like it could rival the American dream.

Sweet, the first rule of Boardsaholism is
"You do not talk about Boards.ie!"

    the second rule is

"You do not talk about Boards.ie!"

I've heard the "Dundalk dream" is more akin to a higher spirtual understanding of the world instead of a simple dream...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭Diarmsquid

I'm kind of addicted to boards.ie too.
Not as much as others but still, an hour and a half each day.
I mean it's everything in one site!
Why would you go anywhere else? Except here.

    Happy anniversary Mr. Nice Guy.

I thought the "Dundalk dream" was being able to nip up over the border and buy cheaper cars and food and stuff.

If only we all lived at the border prices are better across border. But if you know the right people Im sure prices can be cut down to size

I can't spend more then a half hour at work thinking....I wonder if anything good is for sale on boards....I wonder if any new interesting topics....

I actually thought it was pretty normal really until you guys speak of it as if its bizarre. I mean, I post about 20 messages a day, which to be honest isn't an overly large amount really.

Anyway, if you wanna see an even bigger poster, go check out Tar.Aldarion.

Wouldn't say i'm addicted...I can go a week without looking at it but for over 4 years I've been using the site and if i'm online I'll normally log on and see whats happening.

    Tis a great place.

I do read an awful lot more than I post though, fantastic for anyone thats big into procrastinating.
