Hi, new to the computer section, so please excuse any ignorance I may show :)

Im trying to pick a relativly well priced graphics card that will play Far Cry, Battlefield 2, maybe FEAR and the likes REASONABLY well, not neccessarily brilliantly. My PC is Dell Dimension 2100, 2.8 GHZ if that helps. My price range is around 200 euro max. Any suggestions of a decent card with these limitations?

well right on your budget would be this the xfx 6600gt..this is an animal card that will play all your games listed
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=305051&cks=PRL
and 8 euro cheaper ...another one you could get would be the 6800gt but its over your budget..but you may want to wait for it to come down in price its up to you..

Thanks! Would it be worth shelling out the extra 30 euro on the 256 mb?

it probably depends on how much ram u have if more than 512mb well then yes..if you have 512mb or less well then its up to you..it wont make much of a difference with the less ram but it will make one ..if i was in your position ..i would definetly spend the extra 30 euro just ta have a better card cause if ya gonna spend that much ya mite as well do it rite...

Jus make sure your power supply meets the cards demand. A 6600GT needs about a 300w power supply afaik.

wat happened to your idea of gettin a 6600gt...a 6600 on its own is no were near as good as the 6600gt..it wont play all of the games youve listed and the ones that it does will be on medium to low quality..i seriously recommend you get a 6600gt dont waste that much money on a crapper card wen your only fifty euro away from gettin a really good card..

OK I'll probably go with the 6600 GT. Thanks.

Good choice, 6600GT definitely the best price/performance card out there, it'll solve all your problems.
