    Hiya

I've in and around 1k to spend on a laptop. will be using it for general purposes, typing essays, listening to music, printing photos and watching DVD's. I was recommended Dell or Toshiba? any opionions? I was looking at the Inspirion 6000 on dell.ie it's got a nice widescreen and is cool metallic - so girlie observations I know.

I generally wouldn't touch Dell laptops with a pointy stick - very plasticy and cheap build.

For a few Euros more, consider a Sony Vaio.

Acer, Toshiba, Fujitsu Siemens and HP all have nice budget models for around €1000. Personally I dont like dell either but they would have cheap stuff for that much and less.
