anyone ever gone to one of the dances? what's dance soc like? i was thinking of joining it during fresher's week.

I went pretty much every week last MT. It's a lot of fun, lots of couples like honeymonster said, lots of international students, and the girl:guy ratio is about 2:1 (although the second week there's always loads of guys who've heard about this fact and have gone to meet girls. most only last 1 session.) you do have to pay every time you go, i think it's €2.50, plus €2.50 to join at the start of the year. well worth it tho imo.

sounds like good fun anyhow, although i don't know much about waltzing i'd love to learn, do you have to be a member of tcd to go to the dances?

Not as far as I know, my friend's sister does it and she's a DIT student.

It's good fun, I went for about three months during first year, then i started going else where for more specific stuff. Been thinking about starting up again, but fridays are a killer.

Word of advice, brign a male friend.
