Windscreen Wipers for a VW Passat

I went out today to buy wipers for a VW Passat. After 5 motor stores I eventually found one that sold them. The bad news was they were looking for 32 euro - for each wiper. I didn't make a purchase.

Does anyone know of any trustworthy websites where you can buy car things like wipers.

Did you try your local VW dealer?
I needed to get a new set of wipers for a VW transporter a few weeks ago after some scumbag nicked them. The two wipers cost only €25 approx.

But surprise surprise, it was a VW dealer that I had gone to. Unless the guy made a big mistake and should be charging 32 for 2 wipers, but there is a big difference between 64 euro and 25.

32 does sound a bit dear alright. A driver's side wiper for my car is around 20-25 euros, a passenger side one is cheaper as it is smaller and has no spoiler. I would say it is possible that there has been a misunderstanding and you've been quoted for two wipers. IIRC some stealers will only supply wipers in twos as they claim that that's how they are packaged.

Try GSF car parts in Clondalkin or Halfords (Liffey Valley, Blanch or Coolock) for the wipers if it turns out that the VW stealer wants 32 quid for one wiper.

€32 each is outragous.

I bought a pair of wipers for a 03 Avensis from the main dealer for €20 and they even fitted them.

Did you try Halfords?

Is it a fairly new Passat, like, one with those rubbery wipers that don't have any metal in the arm?

May or may not be of use to you but Aldi in fontill and newlands cross still have a good few wipers in stock at 3euro for a pair.If you dont know the correct size there's a model guide on the back.

Ive stocked up on a few to do me for awhile anyways!

If your Passat is fairly new thay take a special blade, as do most modern VW and some other marques.
Try buying them from a motor factor next time they are usually cheaper than a main dealer.
The blades that Aldi have in stock probably wouldn't fit.

It is an 03 Passat.

I never knew that the motor factors would be cheaper than the dealer. I haven't bought the wipers yet. I'll go to a motor factors in the morning.

Yep, '03 has the new flat blades.
You'll have to find a factor who deals with Bosch, who make the blades.
What part of the country are you in?

I'll make a few phone calls in the morning and check who does Bosch wipers and also check prices.

Ashgrove Interparts in Dun Laoire are possibly the nearest. They are just off Kill Ave opposite the fire station.

Halfords in Liffey valley (I'd guess the others have the exact same stuff too) do Bosch. I got a 2 wiper set a while back, I think it said about €25 on the counter but they only charged me €7 at the till

Have to get a set for my 00 Passat.....do halford do them cheap??? not paying over 30 quid for both......ebay have alot of extra's for passat's so must have a look! !

BOSCH WIPER BLADES SET (AERO TWIN) PASSAT 2002 onwards €31.30

2000 Passat:
BOSCH WIPER BLADES SET (Normal type) PASSAT 97 onwards - €20
or
OEM Aero wiper blades at €15.40 (RHS) and €17.80 (LHS) each

That's nearly half price in every case.

Big Nelly, I don't know about shipping as I physically go there myself. Unfortunately I won't be in Belfast for at least 4 weeks otherwise I'd have sorted you out.
Their website may indicate shipping and I'd say they are very reliable as they are super reputable in the UK.

No probs.....if shipping a problem my mate is from Belfast so goes up every 2-3 weeks so could pick them up....thanks for the info! !
