apparantley a dodgy site. I was going to buy off them but changed my mind. Apparently the owner is under criminal investigation.

The owner of Digital Wonder World GMBH (Germany), Gerald Weinmann, is under
investigation for white collar crime and fraud.

He is the former owner of New York Camera GMBH (Germany), which is now in
    insolvenz.

Be very carefull if you intend to do business with this man.
    = = = = =

I can find a number of mentions of him and his companies online. Best avoid, I'd say.

TBH, sandals. I asked for some evidence to back up the claim (that the site was under criminal investigation) and was given 1 link to a message board (similar to this one). Where *one* random user made a complaint about the seller. I'm going to snip the name of the online store from the thread. Wouldn't want anything libelous posted about it.

O ok thanks, I think I will go with them cause that deal is too good to pass up, I will then let you know.

If you can read French or German there are a number of discussion groups on Usenet that mention these companies - some of which mention bankruptcy.

From user reviews it appears people who dealt with them 2004 and before had no problems, the problems seem to be recent.

As long as your payment method allows you a refund in the event of something going wrong, I suppose it would be safe enough.

I presume Visa would look after you in such a case with a chargeback? Ie they will refund you and bill it to the trader.
There must be some insurance involved for insolvency cases?

just thought i would add to the thread that i used Digital Wonder World to buy a JVC MG60E harddisk/harddrive/hdd camcorder. got it for around 680 euro(incl postage). :D saw a MG50 in Dixons for 1200 euro! where do they get off

anyways back to Digital Wonder World. service was excellent. I entered a wrong credit card no and that guy, Gerold(Garry!) got on to me and had it sorted with a few days(my fault). they couriered the camcorder for 22 euro and it took 5 days. Everything was perfect.

would recommend to anyone. their emails were very friendly and everything was as described.
was delighted to find the site. saved me a fortune.
there was no english manual but i printed one off the JVC website. twas to be expected anyways.
