    Hi

Posted a thread asking for a recommendation for good value and cheap hotels in New York. The thread has since disappeared so perhaps someone can remind me what was recommended!

At the rate this question is asked there would nearly want to be a sticky on the subject.Whats your budget? If it's around €300 a night consider the following:

Theres a 3 star on the corner of madison ave at 29th st that might suit you depending on budget.
It is literally a 5 minute walk from the empire state and maceys.
    Kids under 17 are free.
It's pricey for a 3 star though but pleasant.
I stayed there a few years ago.Despite it's proximity to everything it's actially fairly quiet.

The Westin New York is about the same price though located at Time square and it is a luxurious five star-much better :)
They have a concept called the heavenly bed and It is!!

€300 a night? No, as low as possible. I'm travelling by myself. I know that the average rate in NY is supposed to be $280

Well, search is back for the moment. I recommend using it and having a trawl through the NY threads.

    Go look at tripadvisor.com

    www.hotelstanford.com

I have this booked for my trip over the new year. It gets great reviews on tripadvisor and seems to be about as central to everything as you can get.

Rooms are from 99 dollars a night, depending on how far in advance you book.

When are you planning on travelling.

    Beacon hotel

on a mad budget try this rooms are small'ish and up on 96th street
but if you just want somewhere to lay your head its ok

    Riverside inn

or here on 107th street getting into the dodgy area

    Morningside Inn

How was Hotel Stanford? Going there in March and so trying to find somewhere central and comfortable, not a shoebox.

I went there before Christmas, when I booked it was 300$/night. I checked the price 30 hours before check-in and the price was 120$ for the same room. I book at this price and canceled the 1st booking.
The hotel is very well located, very close to the Empire State Building.
