Hotel Lapad is one of the better hotels in Dubrovnik, great location.

Kompass - Don't know anything about it.

How long are you staying? A weekend is plenty time in Dubrovnik

Hire out a car for a few days and travel around.

Weather can be hit and miss that time of year, but you will still love it.

    Hi there,
I stayed in the Hotel Kompass back in June, and I'd say it was one of the better hotels in the area. It has the advantage of a pool unlike most of the others in that area. Its also close enough to the bus into Dubrovnik and near an assortment of restaurants also. The breakfast and the evening entertainment left a lot to be desired though, but all in all, I'd recommend it.
Is there anything in particular you need to know?

Edit: Actually, I saw Hotel Lapad also. Its in the harbour area and the bus from Kompass into Dubrovnik passes by it. It looked pretty nice but the disadvantage is that you don't have access (within walking distance) to a nice part of the sea for swimming, unless you like chasing boats. Also, a lot of the boats to the nearby islands all depart from the Kompass bay which is quite handy.

I'm in Croatia at the moment. We stayed in Dubronik on Sat/Sun and Mon night. Lovely lovely joint. We arrived sans any organised accomodation. In our search we came across Hotel Kompass - and to be honest we weren't impressed. The staff were disinterested/rude and it was quite expensive.

Instead, we met a lady on the street and ended up renting a lovely pension (5mins from hotel kompass) which cost us 660kuna for the three days (thats less than 100euro for a lovely big double room with a big balcony and onsuite bathroom and shower).

My advice re pensions (private accom) is to travel to lapad and don't get one at the bus station!

Good luck. Dubrovnik is class. We went to Korcula and Hvar after - both gorgeous and alot of fun. We're in Split at the moment and we're quite disappointed.

Sorry to hear about the Kompas, as I said, I couldn't comment on it, as I never stayed there.

If you are still in Split region, check out Trogir, about 20 mins North.
