    Hi monagea,

No-one will be able to help you unless you tell us what you want it for. Please do not post multiple threads about the same item. IIRC this is the 4th on this same topic that you have posted.

When you reply to this please add as much detail as possible (please use punctuation and capitalisation - it helps) and keep in mind the following points.
    • What do you intend the main use of the PC will be?
    • Are there any specific components you have to have?
    • Will you game at all, and if so what games would you like to play at decent settings ?
    • Would you have problem with overclocking? Are you comfortable with the BIOS on a PC
    • Any pre-built systems you have your mind on
    • Whether you are comfortable with building it yourself, or have another boardsie build it, or Dell etc.
    • Your definitions of the word 'good' if included as a description for anything. Be specific (eg. I want to play Doom 3 at 1280x1024 with AA)
Lots of people here will be glad to help if they have the right information to begin with.

Cheers, sorry about all the posts ive only one day to make up my mind on what to buy. I want a class looking machine that can play the likes of half life two at full pace. but my budget is around a grand so this morning i saw the above machine on ebay is sounds class but i was hoping some one with a good knowledge of computers could talk me through the spec of this machine and give there view if it is a good deal or not! the link is above,

    Thanks

Reread my post and give the details required.

That machine does not have components listed. I can't say if they're any good or not. Two 6600's is kinda crap though to be quite honest. You'd be better off with one 6800GT.
The P4 830 is the best part of it, and that's what they are using to sell it.
Plus you have to factor in shipping to Ireland.

One day is time, don't panic.

    ok heres the deal.

I want to spend a grand on a machine that is able to play shoot em up games at full speed (if this is possible for machine worth a grand).
i suppose the biggest question is what the best combination of motherboard, ram, cpu and graphics card can i get for this price?

I have never over clocked before but im willing to and i want to, so keep that in mind when suggestion parts, all so i want the pc to be quiet some motherboards and fans these days are to noisy. I will be able to built it myself but if a good prebuilt one came, i would take it. Any suggestions lads?

    Thanks

Ok, you could go for this plus this (1Gb kit DDR PC3200 Premier Dual Channel - OCZ €132) RAM from www.shop4memory.co.uk
Total comes to €970. Any extra should be spent on the graphics card. eg. X800XL = +€120
Processor, RAM and graphics can be overclocked well.

    Nice selection Wizard...

He could also get the gig of ram same spec for Komplett for 117 euro,

    linky

Be wary of 'value' ram. Im not sure about the type linked by Joeface, but value ram usually means its non-ecc and non-parity, but in this case, the value probably means its slower than normal RAM. Paying an extra €20 would be worth it.

monogea, look at my sig for the specs of my machine. Not including monitor, case, speakers, keyboard and mouse, my machine came to €1050 from komplett.ie, and it works a dream. You could keep the cost lower by replacing the SATA2 hard drive and DVD-Writer with a similiar sized IDE HD and dvd writer (reducing by over €100) and spend that money on surround speakers.

Judging by the response time of your posts, youre online all day long. If you want, i (or anyone else here) could give you a shopping list for komplett after my lunchbreak. Just let us know what exactly you dont need in the pc

BTW, the case you are looking at, does it have a 350W or higher PSU? Make sure it does - anything lower than 350W will lead to problems

Just cos it's PC3200 doesn't mean it's the same spec. Value RAM is not very good for OC'ing. The OCZ that I chose should get him to a high enough FSB with decent timings.

    Huh??

monagea, what's wrong with the PC you are selling?
If you swapped the 9800 for a 6800GT AGP you would be able to play the latest games like HL2 and Doom 3 very nicely.

thanks lad, i hadnt had a chance to look at yer suggestions, but my own pc is very noisy, i suppose with a few tips i could over clock it but some one is offering me 1000 for it so that sounds good to me. would ye suggest overclocking mine or investing?

It's up to you tbh. If you are selling all that stuff in your post you'll never replace it for €1000.
You have a Raptor - keep it if you can.
