:D ooh baby...sweet. Sound kicks ass, everything just seems more punchy and vibrant. Thus far no install issues...nForce 4 Ultra, on a fresh install it got assigned it's own IRQ, 16...the X-Fi is not being shared with anything else on the IRQ.

I also remember the Audigy line had some "hiss" or buzzing noise when the sound was turned off...noise from the line out etc., well that is all gone. Even turning up the line levels you can't hear anything.

I just did some "test fragging" with HL2 --> :D
Worth it, the Xtrememusic also has 2MB of onboard RAM, confirmed by Creative.

Sounds good (no pun intended), I've been tempted to grab one of these myself. Does the crystaliser and upmixing etc make mp3s sound as good as they claim, i.e. noticeably better than the audigy ? Also is the 3d through stereo headphones as good as they claim ?

No your not the only one! It all sounds the same to me too but then years of working in pubs and clubs have probably eroded my hearing somewhat

I have never heard this x-fi thing, but all the soundcards I have had in my computers since about 1997 have sounded the same to me. Speakers certainly make a big difference... there is a fair difference between my laptop and desktop... but soundcard, I just dont know, but I wont be rushing out anytime soon to hand over my cash.

What speakers are you using Richard? That hissing /crackling drives me daft, had it on the turtle beach card in my last pc and now with the onboard sound in the new machine, always thought it was down to a bad connector.

So its crystal clear when everything goes quiet during a game? might be worth €123 squid so. then again, might be worth waiting a few months till komplett start stocking an OEM version at half the cost....

Im thinking of an Xfi too. Got an aging OEM Audigy Value, whatever komplett were doing a year and a half ago. Doesnt support any of the spiffy new EAX standards and has the absoluted ****test driver package ever. I know i could use the kx drivers but they bork games dont they ?

Not used the Crystaliser too much, just a basic "before and after" using CD's...no idea about low quality audio or mp3 files.

Using the Creative I-Trigue L3450 2.1 speakers. I was surprised how "silent" things were, even silent spots between songs on CD's...you usually get some sort of interference from the soundcard or the line out.
