[First off I posted this in After Hours so I can get a quicker response but maybe in a day or so the mods can move it to the work forum]

Anyway just started a job this week. Im still in training and will be for a bit yet. Got a call there for an interview for a much better job(expereience wise) and I have it friday week. So what can I say to get 2 or three hours off?

Will I just be honest or just blag it. Might be getting an interview with another company too.

    When it rains it pours!!

Would like to get peoples view on this as it must be a common enough case for interviews happening only during business hours.

Eh. No. Read the Charter. No posting in AH "just to reach a larger audience".

Work is a busy forum, your thread will get plenty of replies, believe me. I know.

    Moved from AH.

i'd ring in sick, tbh, but thats Just me, if its a better Job, perhaps the doctor's fee is worth it,

on the other hand, if you dont get it, you have to pay doctors fee anyway

I don't know if you're entitled to time off for interviews outside of a notice period. I think you are entitled to time off for interviews if you are working off your notice.

I'm not sure tbh. Some employers are grand about it and will always give you time off. Some are bitchy about it.

Maybe someone else here will know the definites of the situation.

Easy! Tell them you are going to a wedding or some other family event. A sickie makes you look like you are slacking off a week into a new job. Family events are more understandable.

    Good luck in the interview!

Those are just off the top of my head. I've never had to do it but I believe it's what most people do. It wouldn't be a good idea to be honest in this instance, especially as you're only training with them at the moment.

Edit: Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

you dont have any official reason to take a day off, so either you lie to them to get it off, or you tell them and they probably let you go.

    choice is yours.
