Ishibashi are the sh*ts, theyl have that thing on a plane quicker than youd believe. Provided theres no hold ups in customs (shouldnt be on a guitar that cheap) youll have that baby within a week. Congrats

Very, very nice finish. Enjoy it!

As regards customs, IMHO you should count on having to pay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

well its about 700 roughly so it shoudnt be more than around 200 right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

its 25.5% so on 700 that would be 178

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

    so roughly what...175 or so?

Well a ball park figure is just a quarter of the (cost of guitar+shipping). Thats only rough, but basically, if you cant afford to pay that dont get the guitar.

A lad here got a guitar, a tele i think, about the same price as yours i think, from Ishibashi, and got away scot free, but sure, even if you do get stung, it wont be too much.

Post pics when you get it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

cool. now its less than 700 but cant remember. 650 or somethin. i dont mind the extra few bob. its spose to be damn good

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

Ishibashi didnt even charge my credit card for the J-custom until well over a month after I got the damn thing, so that should help if you do get stung by customs.

thats another bone i have to pick with bloody boards. u guys have me gassing for J customs and i hate them as a rule. i dunno why. Well is 25.5 not the max they can charge me?

Indeed i did, although the delivery man said i was "one Lucky fu**er". Ishibashi don't try and cover up what it is either, it'll be obvious what it is and it's worth. Assume you'll be paying that €178 too

Well, I'm practically speechless. Quite apart from the inlay teh actual frets do look amazing. The fret ends look beautifully finished (hard to tell from a photo). wow

No it doesnt look good to me. It looks like theres a huge overhang at the edges. It most feel like theres speed bumps on either side.

    *Please* tell me you're joking...

Yeah, theres a whole rake of metal bumps all along the fretboard, actually, it completely sucks, and they really hurt my pre-pubescent handies, which are sore enough already, for obvious reasons...

I take it you being sarcastic, well excuse me for giving an opinion but thats what it looks like to me.

I mean if they wheren't cut to the proper length and if the tangs werent taken off properly then it would make the neck really slow. I love the feel of a fast neck, slim, oiled and fretted properly. I figured that with the atmospheric change while traveling from Japan the fretboard shrunk a little and the frets now protrude a little. I mean sure they look like they are filed and buffed properly and rounded off but that doesnt make a difference if it did shrink.

Then again it could just be the angle.

Ill just answer this by saying that you are mistaken, the fretboard is very nice ,and let other people pick holes in your understanding of the laws of physics if they can be bothered.
    Apologies for the sarcasm... :D

Maybe its a case that we're both tired and cranky. I just thought I rembered someone over on PG talking about a problem they had with a shrinking fretboard. Im probably thinking of someone talking bout the neck bowing, (yes thats right fretboards do shrink as with all woods and this causes neck problems) It seriously does look like they hang a little to me but like I said it could be the angle, and as I said I like a really smooth neck. Lots of shred going on.

Anyways lets just call it a case of crossed wires. No offence ment. By the way any chance of a pic of that full guitar Im intregued by it.

Around here you'll find plenty of recommendations to equal the PRS at a much nicer price. Talk to the Doc about Eggles.

Are Fame that good? I've heard otherwise :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

i personally liked it and they seem pretty well built Fey but then again coz they are so exclusive its hard to know. Their reviews are stunning

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I was looking through the Music Store catalogue and some of Fame's stuff looks incredible. They even have hand wired tube amps for €400 ish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,110 ✭✭✭sei046

to be fair they are really great stuff and not well know coz they are exclusive to MS. What you hear bad about them? honestly they seem like great built instruments. Check the specs on the forums
