    what sort of info?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

No they're a lot cheaper and (in my opinion) do better work.

A guy I work with was quoted 600 euro for a root canal on a molar tooth yesterday by a dentist in meath. That's barely half an hours work.
I paid about 150 euro for the same (albeit a cosmetic root canal) in Newry.

They're a lot cheaper - my sister have mother have used a dentist in Newry and paid about half the price ie quoted 1500 Euro here then paid 700 or 800 euro up there

here's a list of dentists in Newry

As a dentist in the Republic, it is very frustrating to read comments like this. Your statement that a molar root canal treatment is 'barely half an hours work' is utter rubbish and it surprises me that as a Moderator, you would even think to place this online for others to read.

There is not ONE dentist on this earth who could satisfactorily complete a root canal treatment from start to finish on an incisor tooth (which has usually just one canal) in half an hour, not to even mention a molar tooth (which can often have three or four canals).

Personally, I take 2 to 3 separate visits to undertake a molar root treatment for my patients. This is about average among dentists both North and South of the border.

I would be very wary of visiting any dentist who would claim to carry out a Root Canal in 30 mins and certainly would not want them treating me if this was the case!

With regard to going up North, I would advise that you attend someone who has been recommended to you by a friend or family member. Picking up the golden pages is not always the way to go.

Best of luck with your dental treatment!

What on earth do you mean by 'cosmetic root canal' - you'll have to forgive my ignorance, but I've never ever heard of this term, and I'm a dentist!

NHS Dentists are paid £10 to remove a tooth. At that priice they have to work fast.
I heard and English dentist say it cost £60 an hour to run a dentist chair.

at £10 a tooth they have to remove 6 an hour.

I had my teeth done in Northern Itreland when I lived there. I also had it done in the south. Southern dentist took more time.

Dental treatment is like medical care - go cheap and you may not get the results you would like.

If you need treatment and are a bit stuck for cash, go to the Dublin Dental Hospital and ask to be treated by the students. They are FULLY supervised at all times by professional dentists. Treatment takes longer time, but you only pay for the materials.

The times they need patients are limited and only during the appropriate teaching times, but you save a packet if its extensive.
