Flight transfers?

Ok this may sound like a stupid question but...
I'm about to book flights to the states for the new year. The flights are from Dublin-Boston through Manchester, with American Airlines.
What worries me is the transfer at Manchester, basically that there will be some delays that would mean missing the connecting flight, especially cos its such a busy time of year.
Should I go ahead and book them anyway, as this is just a risk you take when you travel?
There is roughly 3 hours for each connection. Because Im booking the flights through a travel broker is there any safety net provided eg will we be put on the next flight should there be any delays?
Please let me know your experiences with flight transfers!

Is the travel agent booking the whole trip?

If they are booking all the flights you'll be fine. The onus is on them to get you on another flight if you miss your connection.

If youve booked the flight to MAN yourself then you have no comeback.

We are just booking the flights through the travel agent, I just asked for Dublin to Boston return, and they quoted me €380 with a stop off in Manchester. The price seems great for xmas, but Im just wondering if they cover delayed flights, or maybe if there was some sort of insurance we could get. And I reckon that although it will be busy at xmas, surely Manchester airpoirt will be less busy than say London Heathrow? I think I'll go ahead anyway, the pros outweigh the cons.

If it's all on the same ticket, you should be fine. Your luggage should be checked through directly from DUB - BOS and you should just head directly to flight transfer desk at Manchester.

You can buy travel insurance (you should buy travel insurance, especially going to the USA) which will cover you for delays/missed connectiosn etc - but if something should happen, the airline is responsible for helping you out if something goes wrong with the trip.
