why would anyone go to a brown concert?
ive been a roses fan for years but hes just a roses tribute act now.
would he have sold out 3 nights in the ambassador last year, ah no he would have done well to get one night.
Ever sence he played Glasto with waterfall, adored and she bangs the drums hes been cashing in big time.
And lets not forget he was the least talented out of the four
just out of decency for squire, reni and mani who put him where he is now he should leave the songs alone.
with him doing the roses stuff he has damaged any possibity of a roses reunion.

Who was the first to cover Roses songs in his live performances? Ian Brown??? No. John Squire did it in order to get people at his gigs because he was well aware that his 2 solo albums were pure garbage and that he sang like a dead horse. Sure the man can play lead guitar but that's about it. let's not even get started on the sh*t that he calls his art.

yeah john squire is a horrible singer but he was fully justified to sing the roses songs as he wrote the music and lyrics to the vast majority of the songs whereas brown was just there for show to give the band that edge that made them so brillant.
my point was that brown should keep to the solo stuff

Well the fact that its a Greatest Hits tour by Brown, I dont see him revisiting any of his Roses tracks.

Before he played the Village last year for the Bud Rising festival, he never touched any of his Roses back catalog. I think he started playing them in retaliation to Squire playing them all the time. I know a lot of people who were actually pissed off that he played nothing but Roses tunes at that gig. Solarised had yet to be released and people were expecting to hear some new material.

Now, Browns solo stuff isnt quite as good as any of the Stone Roses material, but I really like all his albums. Each one stands up on its own, which is far more than can said about any of the the sh*t Squire has thrown up. His sales and popularity since the breakup has shown he has plenty of talent, and in my opinion, far more than Squire.

And there was never gonna be a reunion, wether he played those tunes or not. Why would Brown need a reunion?! For what purposes?!

Yep I was at that one, was a bit mad, queuing outside and some journalist guy got to go in for soundcheck and came back out gushing that Brown had soundchecked Waterfall and he was making everyone jealous assuming he wouldn't play it live but of course he did and many more for the very first time in 10 years, brilliant gig. Of course NME choose to ignore it and wrote about his English gig a few days later claming that to be his first time playing the songs again.

Thats just total rubbish, he was the lead singer of the Stone Roses and now he's singing some Stone Roses songs how does that make him a tribute band. He's not pretending to be anything only Ian Brown, in the same way Morrissey sings some Smniths songs now.

Well I see that as a bonus!! But I reckon he could play an entire gig with nothing but his complete back catalog of solo material and it would still be an awesome show. Pity I couldnt make any of them

I was there last night, he played Elizabeth my dear, I wanna be adored, She bangs the drums, and finished with Waterfall.

Paul Ryder guested for a couple of his solo songs. All in all, a great gig.
