    Has anybody fitted a Porsche 356 engine into a 1963 VW beetle or any beetle? I have the engine and gearbox, just wondering what modifications are needed. I know the brakes and suspensions will have to be uprated.

    Hi, I have a copy of UltraVw that had an article on fitting a 356 engine, I'll dig it out later.
    I think one of the original Herbies used for racing in the first movie had an 1835cc 356 motor....

    Here's a link for those S/S bumpers I was telling you about;

    I dropped in today, but you weren't around, I was talking to the
    author of that magazine article on another forum and he's happy
    to offer advice on the engine install, I'll pass on his details to you.

    Thanks Justin, those bumpers look the business, I got the graphics in from the states today, took only three days! It would be great to get some advise on the change over with the engine.
