I have got SimpleOCR but it find it pure rubbish, it give a sentenc out like this @%4f8rfde and it is easier to re-type the document, I downlaoded Claro Scan2text and i find it good, I have also got omnipage version 5 that came with my 1999 scanner and when i installed the scanner files last january when i got the new pc, i only found out about OCR a few weeks back, Man the wasted hours typing  The omnipage is great only i have got 10 session left and if i don;t register it goes dead, i tried registering but it being a 1999 software the link and connection is dead. I would love to be able to get a nice free version of omnipage or Abbyfine reader, as they are the best, although Claroscan through MS word is good too. Anyone know if there is such free editions out there or would borrowing someones scanner driver disk do ? Also if i copied the program file would it work on my pc then ??

most good ones cost around 30+ euro.

Sometimes i mean sometimes a friend buys a new scanner or all in one machine.
Then accidently his CD fell into your computer, hmm or so...

I've got ABBYY FineReader 4.0 Sprint if that's any good to you? Came across it on my old machine, don't know where it came from. Depending on what source you are scanning from, you do have to tidy the end product up abit, but I never had any major problems with it. Certainly quicker than typing about a sizable piece of text.

I use the Document Scanning facility in MS Office Tools on my new machine.
