No no no, NetSoc are arranging an alternative to the traditional Freshers Ball with a more rock-influenced soundtrack being amongst the differences. 'Tis on the Wednesday of Freshers Week and should be great craic.

The Hist, Law soc, Music soc, the badminton club, the photography society are all getting together to organise the big wednesday night club event - Histeria. It's on in Break for the Border and tickets are only €5 so it should be a good night...

Law Soc has the hottest people so Histeria is my destination :)

Anyone who goes to this will regret. The Alternative Freshers Ball will be much better. That's right, the Alternative Freshers Ball. AFB for short but more commonly the Alternative Freshers Ball.

For people who are trying to decide, more information and less plugging of your own club's night out would be helpful. So far it seems to me to be NetSoc and alternative music in somewhere, I don't know where, versus lots of other societies in Break for the Border with hot people (is this part true?). Bearing in mind that the music in BFTB is normally pretty good, even if you're not into normal club music, and that I've seen good few of the people in Netsoc and they are all really great, personality-wise, my mind is pretty much made up. I suppose it depends what you want to get out of freshers' week.

Some more information would be helpful though, there are probably still lots of people sitting on the fence. Also, what about the other nights, or are all of the big events on the Wednesday. If so, why? Shouldnt the SU or someone be making sure they don't all happen at the same time?

Indeed, on the one hand I could pick to hang out with the "alternative people" or I could join all the other societies, and have fun.

Actually scrap that maybe I'll go hang out with all the old SU hacks at there 21's gig :p

The Freshers Ball is on Spirit on Wed 26th Oct and will be headlined by Roisin Murphy (ex Moloko). Tickets will be on sale from the monday of freshers week & will be priced at 20euro. If you buy your Freshers Ball ticket at the same time as your Mystery Trip ticket you save 5 euro!

There will be 2 back to college parties - one for the Arts Block (BESS, Law, TSM,and everything else), D2, harcourt st. on tuesday 11th - tickets 5 euro. loads of drink deals ( i believe fat frogs are pretty cheap)

The Hamilton Party (science, engineering, health sciences, nurses) will be on Thurs 13th in XXI (new coyote) where again there'll be manys a drink deal.

rofl... Myth's got bipolar personality disorder, ladies and gentlemen...

Might I suggest seeing a specialist in that area?
I can recommend a certain psychiatrist... Pricey, but effective.

    It's all ents propaganda!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

You gotta let ents have their moment in freshers week, its the only time when anyone actually listens to them.
Then the common perception of the SU sets in in about week 2, and thereafter they are irrelevent.

Let em have some fun in freshers week
