What is the best way to get gloss paint off a solid door (Front Door). I have considered taking it off and getting it dipped but there is the whole surround either side that need to be stripped also.

Tried a blow torch but afraid of damaging/scorching the wood.

Kling-strip from this crowd: http://www.stripperspaintremovers.com/ you slap the paste on nice and thick, cover in plastic for two days and wash off, no scraping or sanding involved as the gear literally melts the paint without damaging the wood. It's pure magic and has to be seen to be believed - itll leave you with your wood looking like the day it was purchased. :D

Its not cheap - I heard about it over on askaboutmoney.com and shipped some in as the only guy selling it in Ireland worked out 2.5 times more expensive than buying it direct. Youll have to order 4 27kg tubs as a minimum order but youll have no problem shifting the gear either here or on askaboutmoney cos the hassle this gear saves is unbelievable.

I've just been totally renovating my house and forget my lovely new acacia floors - the most commented feature is our stairs which we removed 50 years worth of gloss from with one application ot kling-strip. ;)
