I read somewhere that there is a card club in Tralee. Anyone know if this is true and, if so, any details ?

I'm from Tralee and have never heard of a card club (apart from bridge club and I don't think thats what you're looking for).

Only know of some local pub games as follows:
Austin Stacks GAA clubhouse: Friday nights. NL Holdem. 20 euro with 1 buy-back/top-up for 10 euro. Starts very close to 9pm. Extra chips if register before 9pm. Normally 15 - 25 players. Normally 100% payout of money taken in (Sometimes the club takes a small cut). Normally finishes around 1am but can go later as plays till a winner decided. 10 euro cash games normally start once 6-8 people knocked out.

2 Others that I have been to but would recommend staying away from:
Sean Og's - Mon Nights - 10 euro Draw poker starts 9.30 pm. Finishes 11.30 PM, chipleader at this point takes top prize. (Normally 20 - 30 players)
Henneseys Pub - Tuesday night - NL Holdem 10 euro. Again chipleader at a particular time wins. (Normally Less than 12 players)

If you know of any decent games in the Tralee area then please reply to this post.

A friend of mine is opening a club in Killarney. Con O'Sullivan is his name and He's a seasoned poker player. He runs a snooker club and I believe he has renovated it to accomodate about 8/9 tables which He hope s to open in a couple of weeks. Also planned is a festival for April next year in the Glen Eagle, a 400 and a 200 freezeout over a weekend. Some regular posters here live in Killarney and I'm sure they will give full info on it.

JustMac, The Austin Stacks game sounds like it could be good, might give it a whirl sometime. I'd read that there was a card club in Tralee on one of the posts in the Limerick sub-forum on poker.ie. I guess they may have been talking about the Stacks game. Thanks for the info, might see you in Stacks.

I live halfway between Limerick and Tralee, I work in Clare and I'm from Cork, now if only I can figure out some connection to Tipp and Waterford I'll be sorted :)

I enjoy the Friday night game and with a pint of Guiness only 3 euro its a good night out. It'd be worth at least 1 visit anyway just to check it out. The mix of players there is also good, some good players, some bad players and some newbies. Doubt this was the card club mentioned in that post you saw. I saw that post as well.

Any more info on this. Start time, Average End Time, Rebuy period. Any top-ups or is it just rebuys? Also whats the house take ie payout %. It sounds good though 100 euro might be a bit steep for me since I'm still relatively new to the game. Might try it out some time though.

No I'm not. Haven't seen him in the stacks the last couple of times I've been there. He had been involved in organising/running the stacks game for a while there. They've had the same organiser for the last 2 months or so and its been getting better the whole time. ie. Starting closer to 9pm, Blinds are more regular etc. Are you a regular there or just know Tim? BTW. I'm not involved in the organising but its the only decent game I know of in Tralee and would love to see more players at it.

I just know Timmy. I actually live in Dublin for years now but still go home occasionally. My brother in law (Jerome Linnane) has played up there a few tiimes and he says its good. I will def play next time I am down. Like to have a few pints when playing. Even though I'm a strand road man , I;ll give a few bob to the stacks :)

I'm from Strand Road area myself but I don't shout about it when in the Stacks! Jerome, that name sounds familiar, I'm sure I must have played in a game with him there. Justin McCarthy is me name, might see you there some time.

start 8pm .end around 1 or 2.Rebuys unlimited only for the first 2 levels (25min each).
the house doesnt take anything but there is 5% of the pool taken out for the end of year league game for the top six.sometimes they go a little mad in the rebuy period.2 weeks ago we had 16 rebuys from 12 players resulting in a 2800 euro payout, but that was a wierd night.

1 Last question. Whats the full name of the hotel? From Tralee but didn't recognize it off hand and a few different hotels appear when I do a google search on it.
