which window manager do you use and why?

I use KDE myself, primaraly because it's the first one I ever tried and it's never given me any real hassle.

I've tried Gnome in the past but found it was a bit heavy on the style and a bit low on substence... when it came to installing Ubuntu I went for the KDE varient (do other Ubuntu users do this, or stick with the default Gnome version?)

KDE by default, probably because I'm a Windows user, but I actually quite like the new spatial file manager in Gnome in Fedora. Surprised even myself with that, since switching the Folder file association to Explorer is usually the first thing I do when I install Windows. :)

XFCE. Fast and lightweight - and it more than meets my needs.

fluxbox because its small, simple, fast and does everything what I need it to do; which most of the time is to have few maximised xterms... few screenshots

KDE, because I'm used to it and know how all the bits and bobs work. Funnily enough, I used to use Gnome way back when, but changed to KDE when I used some distro that had KDE as the default wm.

    XFCE 4.2

I used Fluxbox for a long while, but I ultimately didn't like the way it handled a few things. Openbox and Enlightenment were too fiddly for my likings, to configure. I've tried KDE a few times, but I'm not really a fan of it as it tries too hard to be like Windows. Gnome, I use a lot, but I usually go back to XFCE as its pretty much the same thing, but handles better.

xfce looks nice , I might give it a shot, Id really just like something that had no taskbar or anything. I could just use conky/torsmo and a wallpaper.

I always used to use fluxbox but I felt like a change and switched to XFCE4. I've got a fairly minimal setup with no taskbar or iconbox - just the panel and find it very usable without being intrusive. The panel itself takes up barely any space as I have it set to the smallest size and use 1680x1050.
