Is anyone doing anything for the Annular Eclipse on October 3rd? I'm going off to Spain but a lot of people are wondering where they can get a good view of the partial from Dublin, preferably with telescopes. Does anyone know if people are meeting up anywhere?

    Cheers

    Patzer

Haven't heard anything yet but the most likely will be. The sun will be about 55% covered from Dublin I think.

Let's hope the skies are clear though.

    Patzer,
This small article (pdf, 125KB) that was done for the local papers here might be of help. It doesn't have all the necessary details in it, but you might find more info from here, which also gives times etc across the globe where this eclipse occurs.

The eclipse begins just before 9am (8:47am in Dublin). Our diagram below illustrates how the Moon encroaches on the north eastern limb of the Sun. The eclipse then proceeds to increase in magnitude until around 10am. At that time the eclipse will have reached its maximum for us.....
At around 11:15am the eclipse ends with 'last contact'. It is important to note that we will not see an eclipse this deep until January 2011 so it is especially important to make the most of this eclipse.

With thick dark cloud in Dublin 8 I could see nada.
Did anybody manage to get a view of it?
