We are planning on doing a sticky which will contain a benchmark suite for laptops ...It wont just be Graphics and CPU ...The likes of Battery life, Memory DVD + CD ripping , Encoding ,Compresion and so on ...It will be there for people to post there results, so that anybody using the laptop forum who is planning on buying a new laptop will have a fair idea of what they will get for there money ...
And seems its your forum we want you to pick the Benchmark Apps that we should use ...???? " The likes of sisoftsandra" We will have to pick programs that are shareware or freeware so that we can all get them from the net or i might host them on a FTP server which will be linked to the sticky thread ...so seems this is your forum please give your input ..

Post the name and a link to the benchmark program you think would be good for laptops .And ill tidy up this thread and make up a sticky .
    Thanks Dubdvd ,Nukem

    good idea,

sisoft sandra should cover a lot of topics.
    Unfortunately MobileMark/SysMark are not freeware.
But PCMark can be used freely.
Also HD Tach can measure hard drive performance.
For encoding i suggest TMPGEnc MPEG Encoder, as it is used often for comparison.

I'd like to see some explanations of cpu's etc. too.
Like many people think a centrino is a pentium-m but in fact
there is a centrino celeron-m bundle (definition centrino).

    regards

    EDIT:
of course for you and me it is not (jesus).
But we're going off topic when i reply now...

The Centrino was originally based on the Pentium m.. The Celeron m has since been launched as added to the Centrino umbrella.. Its not too complicated to be honest..
