forgive me if this is another stupid question.... ;)

Got a 1.52 psp. Thinking of upgrading to 2.00. Looks like there is no sign of a downgrader and i'd quite fancy a web browser.

I still want to watch my mp4 movies i've ripped from my Dvds and listen to my mp3's....will the 2.00 firmware stop me doing this.

Does it have any wierd anti-piracy/copy protection shite, i should be worried about?

2.0 more than likely has more security than 1.52 no matter what sony say. Its just a risk you have to take. 2.0 will do everything 1.52 will do with the added benefit of the web browser. BUT 1.52 and not 2.00 might be hacked tomorrow for all we know OR both will be hacked OR you could be waiting forever for 1.52 to be hacked. Luckily its not a choice I've had to make myself yet.

yep same here, using it for movies more than anything else. Good news for myself anyways today was that the free european spiderman 2 worked on my 1.5 canadian psp so I'll be able to rent movies from xtravision when i want.

Off topic, but how big a file size are iso's and mp4's roughly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

well the small conversions i did were about 7mins for 8 meg or somethin like that but as i said i haven't done that much of it...dregin what 2.0 exploits are u aware of??

well my mp4's are the same as xvid.....6gigs dvd -> 600meg rip

although you can make em smaller and keep reasonable detail...i'm still learning.

only issue i'm having is the audio....make sure you make it as loud as possible.

an iso tends to be over a gig.

ruggie at 600meg would that be xvid quality yeah??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

close enough....tbh, i still reckon that xvid on my pc and its 22inch screen is superior but thats probably coz i'm not watching it from 2 foot away :)

    still experimenting.

oh and i upgraded to 2.00 now anyway. tbh, i reckon if they can crack any, they can crack 2.00

i reckon if it can be done it can be undone but its not lookin too easy is it...there was an argument though that kinda worried me...when the xbox xame out the hacked everything up to a certain point and then stopped because they figured if u wanted a hacked xbox u could get an older (kinda like 1.50 in this case)...so i hope they haven't given up on it just yeat

Well, what sizes are your iso's? I'll be probably getting a gig or 2 gig mem stick soon and I'd like to know if I can fit a movie onto the mem stick.
