So anybody heading to this gig?

Should be a great night, Nevermore's new album is quite good but im only going to see Dew Scented. I seen them 2 year's ago with Nile, not a bad band at all.

I've never heard any of Mercenery's material.

I'm gonna miss the one in Dublin as I'm in England and I'm gonna miss the English shows because I'm back home in Ireland for the weekend

Can't wait for this gig - should be class. I've seen them twice - at Graspop & at Wacken & they are excellent live... Seeing them in a small venue should be even better.

Fantastic gig, shame about Steve Smyth's news but no complaints, excellent show from start to finish. Mr Loomis can certainly play guitar :)

Was an excellent gig. I enjoyed it very much. Quality musician all around. Dew Scented were excellent too. Wasn't huge on Mercenary but there were good...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,519 ✭✭✭Oral Slang

    What a brilliant gig..
Thought from start to finish it was excellent. I liked Mercenary - good sound & great presence, Dew Scented were good enough - not my thing though & Nevermore were amazing.. Really enjoyed myself - only wish it hadn't been a week night - would have loved to go for a few beers afterwards!
Got myself a plec, so I'm delighted!

ah yes. i was wearing a Nile Annihilation of the wicked t shirt when i came in but bought a Nevermore t shirt during mercenary's set. so if anyone saw a 19 year old chap with short hair and glasses strollin around, it was me!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Nope, can't say I remember seeing you, but in fairness, I wasn't paying much attention to those in attendance, barring a few select females in the crowd. ;)

    Mmm, females...

Yes, and there were a few fine specimens there that night I'll have to say. So, did you get to fondle the Doc's Eggle?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Alas no. It was else where along with his LTD. But his Roc Pro was there. It's fecking tiny!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Ah poo, that'd be the number one thing I'd want to check out. How about his Schecter? You get hold of that at all?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

7 stringy. Quality instrument. And I don't know how you could want a 6 string fretless. I was lost on the 6 string fretted

Getting lost is half the fun of it! Right now I'm trying to get my bearings with extending the Harmonic Minor to the low B on my 7 string. Don't have the whole scale learned off by memory yet, but I'm fairly able to improvise over it easily. 6 Strings on a bass would prove another challenge, but I'd say my Dean has my fretless needs covered. ;)
