Personally i like the chances of Penieve in the 3.35 in Listowel, not a bad performance coming 3rd in last outing and won this race last year, worth an each way bet to nothing at circa 6/1

Quite like Peineve myself today Cyrus, I remember backing it in this race last year with Cathy Gannon riding. It's 5lb higher today but has Chris Geoghan on board to take that 5 off, he rode Listowal really well last year in some very testing conditions. The ease in the ground should also suit. It's a tough race though with 5 or 6 contenters.

Others I'm keen on at Listowal are Buchra Inchalla in the opener, Chiado at 4:05 and Penny Hall at 4:35. I thought the price on Chiado would be a lot bigger, it was 3rd behind a couple of Aiden O'Briens on his debut in a race that has produced several winners since.

The other two are more speculative bets than any of any great confidence, they are wide open races. Penny hall is a consistent performer who jumps well and has already beaten todays gambled on favourite In The Dip at Wexford in July. Buchra Inchalla seems to thrive on easier going which is more than can be said of most of todays rivals. He has also got a 6lb weight swing with Miss Isabella for finishing less than a length behind.

As I said with so many big fields it hard to be confident of anything, I'd settle for one winner.

I feel MARCUS EILE at Beverley 4.25 is a worthwhile ew bet.

Peineve was desperately unlucky, it lost 5 lengths at the start when it got away slowly and ended up only being beaten by a short head.

A tough day yesterday. I had Chiado and ended up backing Kempus as it's main rival was a non runner. Peineive was an unlucky second and Buchra Inchalla was third. Buchra Inchalla's run was eyecatching, I'll be keeping on an eye on it's next run. This was it's first run after a break and was badly drawn so did quite well to finish where it did. My other pick Penny Hall finished 5th of 17.

I might have one later at a decent price. All depends on the ground though as it mightn't even run. Everyone direct a rain-dance towards Listowel. :)

By the looks of it, it'll be raining in Listowel in about an hour or so, should keep on for the day.

Any more precipatory goodness down there? :)

The going is still listed as "good" at Listowel, which isn't good for this horse. He needs it sloppier than New Orleans. Anyway, he's still running. His name is Impersonator and he goes in the maiden hurdle at 4:40.

He's better than his bare hurdles form shows and the owner said he'd win if it was soft today but he should still run a good race nonetheless. PP's have had him at 8/1 all day but his SP should be bigger than that. It's not a confident selection unfortunately but I've done a bit e/w on him.

The favourite looks worthy and there's another horse being backed in the race (Hardwick). Make of it all what you will. Good luck.

Hmm, a gamble landed in Irish racing. Who'd have thought it? :)

Impersonator a decent 5th. Keep an eye on it in future when it's soft.
