I have my boyfriends birthday coming up and I really dont know what to get him. Hes not very materialistic so I was thinking a weekend in Europe of even a cheap sun holiday. But your looking at €300 per person then, and I cant afford that.
I was hinting at a few things but theres nothing major he wants. Unlike me, hes not really into "stuff". He loves music but has his ipod and all that kinda thing. And I dont wanna get him after shave or clothes.

    Please, any suggestions!

What sort of budget did you have in mind? I gave my boyfriend a voucher for a hot towel shave (St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre) a while back and he really enjoyed it. Or how about booking a really fancy restaurant and treating him?!

Describing your boyfriend's personality would help more. Surely he must like something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 226 ✭✭maggz

Yea the scuba diving lesson would be great actually. Hed be really into that. Budget wise, I guess ill spend about €200-€300.
Personality, well hes always out and about, sporty enough.

Bring him to the zoo. Everybody likes the zoo. If he doesn't appreciate it, you can always throw him to the lions.

Yea hed like the zoo, but he wont be in Dublin around his bday

The Gadget Shop has a radio controlled plane, an Aerobird Challenger I think, for around €150. I want one of those for my birthday. You can't go wrong with boys toys, and if he's out and about a lot then it's even better.

Good idea. I bought a rc plane, they are great fun.

Have a look at topgifts.ie - you can buy vouchers for all sorts of thing at all different prices - clay shooting, paintballing, quading, flying etc.. Something that would defo suit the outdoor type.
Plus if you're a member of pigsback, there's an offer on at the mo - 5 points for every €1 you spend!

I pointed out a remote control car a while ago and he said he used have one and he used it a few times and never again. A plane is kind of different though I guess. I think thats a cool present.

Nice RC plane there. 20 minutes flytime for that price is near unheard of.

A pair of these would be a great craic. Just for the record, all guys are children at heart.

The gun is cool. I liked the plane with the digital camera and the dinosaur too. Very cool website - never seen so much useless crap in one place.

I'm lucky I don't have my credit card with me, otherwise I'd be after putting myself about 1500 in debt. I'm going to buy those guns when I get home, LOL.

Get him some decent headphones for his ipod, if he is still using the ones he got with it. If he is into his music he may have already upgraded so check first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 226 ✭✭maggz

Yea hes always giving out about the headphones, cause they're crap when hes running. Was also thinkin of those docking things with the speakers for the ipod. He has decent speakers but those things are cool.

I have shure E3C earphones and they are amazing. they are about €120 on ebay (new, delivered). there is a step down e2c which are about €70 delivered (€180 in peats!). and the step up is the e4c and e5c.
These earphones stick into your ears like earplugs, they will not fall out while running and block the surround sound of wind or cars so are ideal for running (just keep and eye out crossing the road), also great on buses full of nattering spanish students. they give out studio quality sound too.

I cycle with mine, one of the best things I ever bought.

The docking thing may be handy since it is portable, but if he is into his sounds and has good speakers he will not use it much.

    Check out budget travel: http://www.budgettravel.ie/specials/index.php

Some of their last minute specials at the moment are under €130 per person sharing...

Or, if you're not going exactly last minute, €300 would definitely get you some Ryanair flights somewhere with enough left over for a weekend's accomodation for a city break somewhere...

    - get him a skydive, anyone can fly a plane but it takes a certain kind of lunatic to jump out of the plane.

    - better still, make sure you are flying the plane, jump out... and he has to follow you!

    - There were some Aer Lingus flights to Barcelona and the likes recently for 4 €, etc.
