Gateway Bands

    Everyone has at least one gateway band that got them into punk, I'll post mine later but for now I'm just wondering what was the first band that introduced you into the wonderful world of punk?

    Nirvana for sure. I've got a portrait of Kurt on my chest, he got me through hard-teenage times and is responsible for making me pick up a guitar so I thought he deserved a special place on me. Not really a punk band but Kurt had a fairly punk attitude and view towards things.

    After that its been like nofx/pennywise and then underground type ****

    i think it'd be bad religion or black flag for me, cant remember exactly. if it was bad religon then it was "you " if it was black flag then it was "rise above"

    I bought a punk compilation called "I was a punk before you was a punk" just out of curiousity really because I was just getting into guitar music. Anyway it had bands like Misfits, Ramones, Lurkers, GBH, White Flag, DOA, Sham 69, etc and it was just great so I think the next cd I bought after that was the Ramones. :)

    The first band that go me into punk was Rancid. I love their attitude and old-school style. Then I started getting into The Clash and The Sex Pistols.
