DNS Problems

Could be wrong with the title but I think its the cause of my problem. Gonna give as much detail as possible.

IBB connected to wireless router. 1st Pc connected to router with wire - no connection problems. 2nd PC connected to router wirelessly - no connection problems (using this PC to write this). 3rd PC (Dell Inspiron 510m) connected to router wirelessly - connection problems.

All machines are assigned ip address automatically and the laptop is given a correct ip address. Router is 192.168.1.1 and laptop is 192.168.1.102. I can ping router and other PCs. I can also ping domain names and ip addresses. For example I can ping www.goggle.com and it resolves to 66.249.93.104 and i get 4 replies.

However I can't connect to any sites using IE, or use GMail Notifier, DOS ftp, telnet etc. In IE i can see its has resolved google.ie to its ip address and is trying to connect to it. And eventually fails (Page cannot be displayed) . Same thing happens if i type in an ip address into the address bar. In other words any network connectivity does not work.

Last night it was working fine. I had uninstalled the Norton Internet Security 2005 trial that came with laptop and replaced it with AVG. Network connectivity was working fine after this, including after restarting.

Today I used SymNRT to make sure all traces of Norton were removed. I also uninstalled AVG. I also disabled windows firewall. (no other firewall installed) I ran the Winsock Fix and still no joy. DNS client service is running fine and nothing in the Event viewer indicates a problem. Finally I ran a Windows repair from the Windows installation CD. Still the same problem.

Has anyone any ideas about why it won't connect? Let me know if any more details are required.

    Thanks
    R

ok bit of an update here.

Was working on this prob a bit more last night. In the process of which i turned off all 3 PCs, the router and the IBB IDU. Then rebooted router, IBB and all 3 PCs. And they all had the same prob as PC 3 outlined above. Now in the process of figuring out wtf was going on PCs 2 and 3 came back online (again I'm using PC 2 to write this). But PC 1 remains offline.

2 and 3 are wireless. PC 1 is wired to router.

Router is a Linksys WRT54G with firmware v3.03.9. When all 3 PCs had no network connectivity i was able to view the online control panel of linksys at 192.168.1.1 and ping and traceroute to several different sites. But still nothing on PCs. Then without really doing anything 2 and 3 worked again. And still do on reboot this morning.

I have no f**king idea whats going on? Anyone got ideas???

    Thanks

ok i connect PC 1 directly to IBB IDU and no problems. So guessed problem had to do with router. I had previously powered off the router, waited 20 secs the npowered it on again. Still same prob.

This time round I pressed the reset button and it restored itself to the factory settings. I configured it back to the way it was before and now all 3 PCs seem to be connecting ok.

Fingers crossed thats the problem solved!!!
