New Zealand for Xmas

I've been thinking of going to New Zealand for ten days at Christmas. Flights around that time are about €2000 which seems crazy to me. I presume the price reflects the fact it's Christmas. Has anyone any experience of travelling around this time or any ideas for cheap flights? Thanks,

Do gohop.ie actually do any business? Any time I get a quote off them it's ridiculous. I just checked them for NZ and their price was €6,720.00 Base Fare. What a joke.

I generally find online prices terrible. Go into a travel agent for a better deal. It amazes me how people make a saving online. If you succeed tell me how.
