Ebay is my usual place but there are surprisingly few selling them, looks about 280 delivered. Pixmania and amazon.co.uk are cheaper. is there any other EU place that may be cheaper?
(I know about the cowon, it is not for me!)

you can get it off this german site http://www.technikdirekt.de/main/page.html?pageid={4a2302bc-011b-4b83-a146-3427cd4adab9}&SESSIONID=ajqpfk45huuuhsmvvt0d1nj5&DS=2&TS=1906060551&type=focus&doctype=article&focus=779427&focuslayout=full5&focuslayout=full5&history=add

for 261 euro incl. delivery.very good company ,reply to emails etc.i got pioneer dcs 222 home cinema off them last year for 220 euro incl. delivery and it was very heavy.there is a new sony nw-a 3000 mp3 player coming out in a few months, which will be about 290 euro incl. del off the same site and looks class.have a look at the bargain alerts on the site and other products as they are good value and shipping will be the same.i am not sure though if you can replace the battery on the nw-a 3000.have a look at avforums.com.use this german price checker http://www.geizhals.net/deutschland/a146405.html which i always use .

thanks for that. It is 261 not 161 delivered, thought it was too good to be true! but still a nice saving. it is only 299 in argos, I am so used to getting huge savings compared to shops here, they must be copping and having to reduce prices at last.

I have to have a look at the new sony, thanks for the heads-up on it.

sorry about that price error. 261 is not bad though. probably worth waiting for new model to come out.

The guy who wants it like it because it is small. That new sony is twice the size of the HD5, actually a tiny bit more than twice the size! weighs a bit more too.
Looks a bit nicer but the buttons looks more fiddly than the HD5.
It was no WMA playback yet (but will)
I read the HD5 cannot play "non-DRM WMA", most of my files are WMA but I do not know what DRM is.

DRM is 'digital rights management' or similar, if your ripped your files yourself you should be ok...

not true - only if you chose to copy-protect the files when you ripped them which most people don't do.

I ripped my self and took off protection. I read this
SonicStage supports unprotected WMA files, but when we transferred them to the NW-HD5, they were automatically transcoded to Sony's proprietary ATRAC3 format

What a bag of crap, it turns them to their format. Do these developers even visit forums and see what people really want. The player can be used as a hardrive but you need the sonys crap music software to transfer files, so you are stuck with it like an ipod, brutal.
