Anti-Ladbrokes rant (not a bad beat or about an actual poker game)

It would make me extremely happy if just one less person would sign up to Ladbrokes Poker as a result of this post.

Let me start by stating that this post is about a mere issue of $32.50. I am not posting it because i am p1ssed off about the money, but rather because i believe that if a company is small-minded and tries to save a few dollars off you, then there is nothing more gratifying than seeing that company lose a multitude of that amount as a result of their actions.

    Okay...

So, I registered with Ladbrokes Poker and then went into the shop to put some money in the account. I went in with 50 euro to put in, but was told in the shop that as my account was new the maximum deposit was €30. Grand, so I did that. I subsequently put more into the account on later occassions.

A month or so later and I was a bit puzzled why my registration bonus hadn't come through. It was only €7.50 (!! 25% of €30), but I was home at the parents place and a bit bored and with no money in the account to play with, so I said i'd contact them and get the bit of free money to play with.

They told me that as I hadn't deposited the minimum of $50 in the account for the first deposit, I wasn't eligible for the bonus. Neither could i get them to give me the $25 I thought was due as a result of having being referred by someone ($50 to the referrer, and $25 to the referree after a certain amount of raked hands are played).

I told them that I had wanted to put €50 in my account for my first deposit, but wasn't allowed to. The maximum deposit allowed was €30. That it was unfair that I lost out as a result of their system saying that I couldn't put in the minimum amount needed to get the registration bonus. But after a number of emails back and forth (I was bored at the time!) they won't give me the registration bonus (of €7.50). The ba5tards!!

Apparently, when I was registering the account, I could have gone into one of the options to select a higher maximum deposit value, but I just clicked all the buttons and got my account. How was I supposed to know that you had to select a special option to be allowed to make an initial deposit of more than €30 by cash?!!

So, as stated at the beginning, this is about a minor financial issue, but there is a bit of a principal to it. I feel bilked out of the registration bonus. It would make my day, if just one person who was going to open a Ladbrokes account would instead open an account elsewhere, and give your rake to a less petty-minded company. please!

At the risk of getting slated here I think the problem here is user error. I noticed the max limit when I was setting up my Ladbrokes account a few months back and TBH I though it was a good idea, kinda helps when you're on tilt :D

I'm not too sure I would be behind your argument on this one. I bet you didn't just click the next button when you were entering you bank/card details! :D
It is a pitty, but I don't think you can complain too much.

I agree it looks pretty crap but there are some good features, you can't beat the Find A Player util. Great for searching for da fish ;)

What's wrong with it? I quite like it. It's plain and does what it does well. There's no stupid animations or avatars to annoy you either. The tourney window is also one of the better ones imo.

Probably just a loose connection between your chair and the keyboard. ;)

doesn't seem like they did you wrong at all tbh. you could argue that from a customer service pov it would have been better to just give you the money but sites are offering bonuses hand over fist at the mo so shop around if that's what you are looking for.

i wont bring up the fact that if you had of won....

yeah i like the tourney info too but even without avatars etc. i find the site far too distracting.....it's a real 'look & feel' thing for me, i think it's that there is too much blank space and it seems very fast.

it's also a massive pain in the arse to multi-table.

I completely disagree with your attack on Ladbrokes on this issue. They are one of the industry players that are promoting responsible gaming by providing players with maximum depsosit options. You chose E30, that was your choice / error. I don't mean to sound harsh but God knows it's tough enough to get the gaming industry to co-operate in promoting responsible gaming. I say fair play to Ladbrokes for this feature. They didn't do anything wrong, you did :p;)
