Are there regular gigs in the old bar? Im not in dcu but we're playing a gigsmart acoustic thing in october and just wondering what the set up is like. Will there be many people in on a thursday night?

    cheers

We're playing an acoustic set as part of www.gigsmartacoustic.tk on thursday October 6th. New band has the working title Bravest Kid In School and is made up of ex memebers of Fired For Theft and Melaton. We played UCD last week and that was deadly. Its free in so anyone interested do stop by!

beware. the sound in the hub bar is possibly the worst sound you will get. EVER. layout of speakers is just ridiculous. Its almost as if they just randomly picked placed and the pa speakers on the stage are directed at your feet. but yes go for it anyways!

boo-urns! but there is a time to be picky with sounds and levels and acoustic student gigs are not that! horay!

Eh ok ... Is someone here confusing their bars, because it seems to me that one of you reckons the gig is on in Alpha and the other person thinks the gig is on in the Hub on Eustace street.

    Idiots.

well all i was told is it's in the 'old bar' and amn't really bothered about where it is anyway until im carrying a heavy amp around campus, stumbling into the bar that i think its in and seeing the puzzled look on the bar staff's face - 'there's no live music here tonight'

i've only been in dcu once and that was ages ago.

make of that what you will

actually I'll take back what I said up there. was in it on thursday and there was a really really cheesy band in and the sound was great. think they have changed the pa. they played 'jump' along with many other classics from the 80's.

dammit, they stole our big finale!!

ok Im kidding but we never do covers really so are we gonna seem a bit un-fun compared to the evidently jovial usual bands?! Ah well. Most covers are just a big cringe anyway!
