My mate brought me home a patched copy of Winning eleven 9 recently from Thailand (My ps is chipped).

The problem with it, is that everything is in English except for the players names, which are in Japanese!

The strange thing is that in edit mode the players have english names on the back of their jerseys....

I know that I could change the names manually in edit mode but this will take so long I really cant be bothered.I've heard of things you can download and then apply like new kits, updated transfers etc, but i've no idea how, or what I need to do this.

    Any help really appreciated!

    Get a new option file.

You need some way of writing to your memory card so either tru USB key or copy the file onto a burnt cd and load it to your Mem card with Action Replay.

Do you have the mem card exploit installed or an action replay type software?

Some people here can do it for you if you live close to me i do it :D

You need Action Replay Evo or Max €34 or €24.

If you play WE/Pes much its a must have for updated option files.

When you have one of those you can download an option file and transfer it to the memory card.

If your PS2 is chipped you can just get a Bin & Cue format option file and load the cd in your PS2, then copy the file onto your memory card.
You dont need any extra software depending on your chip, or even then the most you might need is CD/DVD Loader.

The only other problem you'll have will be patches in PPF format (usually the main ones) will never work on your copy, as you need a clean ISO for them (which you dont have). The best you'll be able to do will be to use DKZ Studio (or similar) to import the kits onto your current game and then rebuild the ISO.

Your other option for the names are to go through the edit mode and copy the ones on the back of the jersey's, they're always in English for authenticity. :)

Alright I've done a bit of research and I've got the one thats probably best for you. It's Kosos' option file that has kits done using the in game editor etc...
Its supposed to be good, the only thing is, it only has transfers up until the 8th of August, so you might need to do a little updating, the good news is its more than likely compatible with the patched version you have, as you said your names are still in Japanese, so that means that the original Para file is being used, rather than the newer one which was used in later translations and patches (which causes the game to crash when option files based on the old Para file are used, some sort of internal conflict).
Anyway, here's the links to the file, and I'll put a link to the instructions of what you have to do. Seeing as though you'll have an option file already, you could just skip to step 6 or 7 from the beginning.

Thanks for the advice dude, but I couldn't get my ps to recognise the option file on a disc.

Looks like action replay is the way for me

Btw - Where is the cheapest/fastest shipping place online to get the action replay?

It would be cheaper to buy a Max Drive, rather than get Action Replay.

    Hope that helps. ;)
