Just a quick question as to the origin of the fish as a symbol of Jesus. I believe it was something to do with the Romans beating the crap out of the Christians, and so to disguise thier faith from the Romans they had to use alternative symbols for their religion. Anyone have anymore insight on this?

The Greek word for fish: IXTHUS

    I - Iesous (Jesus)
    Chi - Xristos (Christ)
    Theta - Theou (God's)
    U - Uiou (Son)
    S - Soter (Saviour)

Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour.
