Great shot, What camera and settings did you use?

rabbitinlights this was taken with a canon a60, 2mega pixel camera, it was a simple point and shoot shot, but I done some post processing work in photoshop, I changed the sky, increased the contrast using levels, a little dodge and burn, I then converted it too bw and finally sharpened the image in lab 16 mode. I just got this printed at 10 x 8 and its looks great, used the steeping process in photoshop to enlarge. I will post the original later when i get home from work there is a dramatic difference,

I was just going to comment on how striking the sky is against the ship .. :D

Was that the real sky enhansed with Photoshop or was that copied in as a background layer?

The sky used was taken in my back garden, I copied in as a layer.

The sky isn't quite right. Right of the ship where the sky touches the horizon. It too detailed for something thats 14 miles away. Otherwise great pic.

Personally I wouldn't do an alteration like that, and knowing it is altered takes alot away from the picture in my view ... but to each their own :D

The sky is "wrong" though, the way the clouds that are still relatively close disappear behind the horizon is a tell tale sign that the sky is not the original sky.

Could you post the original picture just to compare?

This is the original picture, it was only a 10 minute job in photoshop, I could have played around a little more with the sky, but its the boat that attrast peoples attention.

If anything i think the sky adds to the shot. The original is really rather bland, your ps skills to my taste have really enhanced the picture, wish i could get to grips with PS to enhance mine.Great effort.

Very nice shot. The contrast and tones reminds me of Ansel Adams, especially the clouds.
