Just got broadband at home yesterday.
Surfing away mad on my ibook for a few hours, Skype and all that goodness.
Then I decided to check this firewall business out.
And turned it all on. now it seems that my connection has slowed down a lot.
    Is this normal?

    Huh?

    Don't think so.

OS X's internal firewall just blocks some ports. Shouldn't affect any of the regular ports (80, 22, 25 yadda yadda yadda). Maybe Skype's ports get blocked - all you have to find out is what range of ports Skype needs open and write a little firewall rule to open them back up again.

Nah, it's not Skype that's being affected it's the overall internet speed.
For instance boards takes an age to load pages at home and my connection should technically be faster than the one I have at work
