    UTV tuning freq is

    10906
    V
    22000
    5/6

You can tune it in but it is not available yet.

They don't work because the signal is encrypted and Irish Republic cards don't unscramble the signal. ITV (including UTV) is due to go Free to Air in the near future and you'll be able to view UTV when that happens.

Those codes used to work.Maybe they have changed the transponder frequency like they seem to do on a regular basis with ITV News.

    Nope.
They havent worked with ROI cards for nearly 3 years.
They do work with UK subscription cards or with "freesat" UK cards.

AFAIK searching is disabled on the forum here due to server issues during the week but is available on Saturday or sunday-so do a search and read.

Digiboxes seem to be currently having a hard time even seeing 10906 through Other Channels, so don't feel guaranteed to be able to even find it.

I install ITV systems so I know what I am talking about.I'm not sure what Earthman was referring to with the comment:
    "do a search and read."
I have tried a number of digiboxes some with the very latest software, some with the previous software(3.3a.6) and none seem to accept the 10906 frequency.Oddly you can still watch UTV on a digibox I had programmed with this frequency before this latest quirk so it doesn't look like the frequency has changed.Anyone any ideas what's happening?

It IS strange, isn't it? No signal found for that frequency. Either the channels have changed to another frequency or possibly Sky are looking at a way to stop people adding ITV to the "Other Channels" if ITV go off the EPG ....

I posted the issue on Digitalspy (where some people spend their days scanning frequencies, fair play to them), so if there's an explanation we'll know soon enough.

the channels certainly havent changed frequency because the UTV i have stored in Other Channels for months still shows the programme not available message

    I just use my surname.

To quote daniel99 on Digitalspy - "10.906V is suffering from Technical Problems and has a Service ID of 0 and a SKY Box can not understand this."

So perhaps it will be sorted. In the meantime I would suggest that readers might store a few of the ITV channels that are currently available (just in case the same thing happens to the frequencies that they're on). That way they'll be ready for when ITV does go Free to Air.

Yes - this is strange indeed.
I had UTV 10906 etc. stored previously on an FTV cards and it still works fine.
Tried it today on a second digibox (running s/w ver. 3.3a.6) and 10906 throws up nada. Is this a "deliberate mistake" ?

Charles, any update from your query to ds?

No further update. Perhaps folks in the UK aren't too bothered about storing UTV in their Other Channels - I wonder why that might be :D:D

UTV and all other channels on 10906 can be stored into other channels as of this morning, looks like they have sorted the problem on that transponder.

Thanks DigiDec. Well spotted. I'd advise folks to store UTV now (in preparation for ITV going FTA). That is, of course, if you WANT to watch ITV through UTV. Maybe you'd prefer Channel Isles.

I watched Grampian news at 6pm this evening. Bus strikes and house blazes. Turgid tbh, but so is all UK local TV news.

IIRC wasnt the picture quality on UTV worse than other regions or has that been rectified, not that i would choose UTV mind

Any update on the FTA situation vis-a-vis ITV/UTV etc.

I had heard that there only on a month to month encryption contract so maybe the 1st?

No exact date. Only real soon now. Maybe they might wait till BBC has this "FreeSat" what ever it is launched?

Does anyone know _EXACTLY_ what Beeb is doing, is it simply a BBC branded regular FTA box, or are they going for MHP system for two week EPG and Interactive, or some yet new varient of MHP, OpenView or ViewNext systems on custom firmware box?

Either way any box will get Now&Next and all the channels.

I wish they would send all the terrestial teletext on Satellite and now the BBC World Teletext is broken. Sky Interactive is too slow for BBC text and RTE & CNN teletext isn't so good for news.

I should have thought of that :D

I had to work on saturday as often as any other day when in BBC. Why can't they do it on a Saturday :) Agreed not likely. I'd suspect rights issues on some stuff booked a year in advance for Christmas. I don't expect it before Jan.

    Still isn't ITV4 starting on 1st Nov?
