I recently picked up the West Wing first and second year boxset. I think its missing a episode the first episode is a bout Josh taking a pop at some Christian fundamentalist, and Sam spleeping with a Call Girl. I seem to remember a TV movie proceeding this episode when it first aired on RTE 1. The Movie was all about how Bartlet got elected to the presidency in the first place. Did i Just imagine this

No, I think you're either imagining the movie, or confusing it with episodes in later series, several of which flash back to pre-election storylines (such as In The Shadow of Two Gunmen at the start of season 2). Either that, or you're thinking or Sorkin's The American President, also starring Martin Sheen, but this time as the Vice President, and a different set of characters.

No Iam prety sure RTE had a big 2 hour special. when the show started. Is it Possible the box sorts are like the Galactic ones. Where you have to buy the pilot\ miniseries separately

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. While the boxsets have been pretty sparce on special features, I have yet to know one to miss an episode. Even the Season 3 box includes the never-aired-outside-America Issaic and Ishmael. Anyway, The West Wing Episode Guide lists the first episode as
    From NBC:

The entire White House staff bristles with activity when it's learned that the President (Martin Sheen) injured himself during a bicycle accident, and his absence becomes a factor as chief of staff Leo McGarry (John Spencer) must juggle a host of impending crises, including a mass boat lift of Cuban refugees approaching the Florida coast and the reaction of conservative Christians to a controversial televised comment by deputy chief of staff Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitford). Meanwhile, Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe), the trouble-prone deputy communications director, unknowingly spends the night with a call girl (Lisa Edelstein) and then makes another critical error during a children's White House tour.

Maybe Iam wrong about the Tv Movie. But I am sure i saw something. Maybe it was primary colours. As for the sept 11th episode I 'am sure RTE did show it. It was all set on a farm or ranch or something
