Whats the best Graphics card available for an AGP 8x motherboard? Is there any point in upgrading to PCI express or will 8x AGP still play the latest games?

The ATI X800XT PE and the Geforce 6800 Ultra...

I would doubt the ATI X850XT's, the geforce 7800GT and ATI's R520 core cards will ever make the transition to AGP

AGP8X cards will still play the latest games for some time to come, once it is paired with good components, eg processor, ram etc.
Right at this moment in tiime there is no need to make the transition, and a 6800GT can be bought for €299 which is a very sweet price.
I don't believe there is any point in purchasing a 6800 Ultra as you'll pay a good whack more and there isn't a huge increase in performance.
