What is this course like? I'm enrolled in another course but I'm considering enrolling in this one as a mature student once I'm finished my degree. The only language I studied for the leaving was Irish and I was quite good at it and I've always wanted to learn Japanese. How comprehensive is language element of this course?

I would appreciate advice and comments from anyone who has been through this course or is considering it.

I'm taking Languages for International Communication with Japanese, but we share all of our Japanese classes with the IBLs.

If you're more interested in the language element, go for LIC. If you're big into business take IBL, because the extra modules differ a lot between the courses, it's really those that make the difference.
IBLs have a bunch of different modules, like marketing, statistics, maths, and so on, but the language classes take up about as much time as all of those put together, I believe. So you're definitely not left lacking in that area.
All of the language teaching is done from scratch, but it moves fairly fast, so you need to be absolutely sure you know what you're doing or you WILL get swept away. Especially in the case of the Japanese, because of the reading/writing system, it requires a huge amount of learning and time dedicated to it.

I was more interested in LIC but the only trouble with that is you have to take another language as well as Japanese, I never studied Spanish and my French and German are beyond rusty. But i suppose it's the better option because my maths is even worse.
