why not delete the whole thing rather than reply to it and then close it?

sorry for my naiviety, by posting a poker hand.(bad beat poker hand)

    and to Samba.
by posting it, i thought people were going to discuss how i should have played it different,
to which you did. am i right!?

the point of putting it up was for discussion.
isn`t that the purpose of a thread in a forum anyway?

maybe if i was a more regular poster and put in the words "fcuktard" or "villain", it might have warranted a response.

my apologies again for my inappropiate thread on the poker forum. :(:(:(

You're a new poster so maybe you don't know some of the recent history of the poker forum. The forum has increased in size and traffic hugely in recent months. If you didn't log in and view the forum for a few days there would be pages and pages of new threads.
Alot of the valid discussion and interesting posts had been diluted and drowned out by posts about people's AA getting cracked and how various poker sites were rigged and so on and so on.

Alot of the forum members weren't happy about this and voiced their opinions in this thread . Some new moderators were added and the charter of the forum was changed so that any threads that were low in content and were about 'bad beats' would have their title's changed to show this.
This let people pick and chose the threads they wanted to read, without having to wade through every single thread that may not contain something interesting.

You can still post bad beat threads if you put it in the thread title. You might get some mild abuse but we're all thick-skinned on the internet right?

You can of course post a hand where you want to get feedback on how you played it or if you could have played better, but it shouldn't be the "I went all in with Aces and he called with 85o and hit a straight, what should I have done".

As regards your last AJ post, I changed the title as per the charter. You did nothing wrong really with the hand in question you just got unlucky on the river. Had the river been a blank card and you had won would you be posting it? What kind of discussion did you want about the hand? If you posted it wanting sympathy then you really won't get it from the battle-hardened and sarcastic fúckers in here (me included).
And as for closing that last thread, you edited and removed the actual hand history from the first post. So there was actually nothing to discuss anymore. So I closed the thread.

So in short you wanted to know if you could have played the hand any differently Just ask in future instead of posting up a bad beat story
I can see you were a little irritated by my reply, apologies for any bad sentiments caused, it was not my intention.

But i automatically presumed it was a bad beat post due to the format it was posted and the thread title.

A few points for future advice posts, try give us as much info as possible, player table image etc, otherwise we have nothing but persumptions to go on.

One point about that particular hand, you want this guy to call you every time, it was just a distasteful river unfortunately.

Players like the one in question come back to the poker table because of hands like the one you posted, because they can and will get lucky, all part of the game, take a note of him and join his tables at every opportunity.

highly unlikely for me to get offended, don`t even know ya! no need for an apology.

yeh take a break! I'm on a two week break at the mo. Probably not going to play for another 3 weeks or so (other than online once or twice a week).

Everyone needs a break now and then. I was getting too stressed about a horrible run of bad beats. I'll be back soon - refreshed ! !

Don't wait too long Rory. I took a break about 2-3 months ago after a similar run of bad beats/bad play and haven't come back since. In fact my interest and love of the game has nearly disappeared completely and no longer feel the urge to play. Going to have to push myself to get back playing again but doesn't that mean that I no longer find it enjoyable and more of a chore than a hobby?
