I'm looking at getting a laptop before the year is out but i havent a clue what cpu based laptop to go for.
I'm grand with normal pc cpu's etc but these laptops have totally different ones.
Are there celeron equivilant cpu is should avoid? What cpu draw the least power, longer bat life etc.

    Jozi

EDIT: i'll be using it mostly for browsing email that kinda stuff (leave the gaming to the proper pc) and CAD and similar programs (for college)

So you will need it for cad also.
Than stay away from the celeron M processor, one of the following should do the trick:
    1. AMD turion - low power version of the 64bit desktop processors, they are a little better in my oponion than the intel Centrino.
    2. Intel Centrino - gives the best battery performance out of these two processors but is only 32bit.

Dont bodder with either a P4 or the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 as they generate to much heat and the battery life isnt great.

    And,

Centrino is it only when it uses selected intel based chips/controllers inside (wireless lan, Pentium-m, ide, etc.).
He probably meant Pentium-M (2MB cache) wich is a good choice for performance/batterylife.

    regards
