Sorry if this has been asked before but can people you are not attending a course at TCD join a TCD club like Aikido. They don't have that at the college I'm going to and I've always wanted to try it but there are no clubs near were I live. Can I join the TCD one. What are the fees for it?

i think there's an Akido club just outside TCD that the tcd club uses sometimess, i'm fairly sure it's on Pearse street.

you have to be a student to attend the ones on campus as they ask for id at the desk of the Luce sports hall.

Sorry, did I imagine it or did I post a message here last night which said "no, go away", which has since been deleted? Trinity's campus is already treated like a public park, and the Clubs and Societies are being used by random leeches who definitely did not pay the registration fee that I paid on Friday. I'm sure there are plenty of Aikido clubs in town for you to join without you having to join a club for registered, matriculated and paying students. So the answer really is no, go away.

hrmmm...i think this requires another comment about that rod in your ass....or I could stop reading your random semi-angry drivel.

Howdareyou, I deleted your post. It was not constructive and frankly it was rude too. I agree entirely with Crash in this matter. Please keep the blustering rhetoric to yourself in future or a banning will ensue.

GDM, When I was in school and even in trinity, I was a member of DIT Judo club. They let me join, though it was unnofficial I was quite welcome. I think the same may apply to some trinity clubs though don't quote me on that. For instance I've seen non-students join our cards society. As stated there are aikido clubs around the college and such. But if you really want to join tcd aikido I'd recommend being brought in one day by someone you know already in the club after freshers week. They won't ask you for anything but your email address if you're joining, so no need to mention that you're not a student. Clubs generally welcome more members as long as you pay your way :)

Crash, "with great power, comes great responsibility". As a member of boards.ie I believe it is not only the moderators responsibility to uphold reasonable levels of respect and decorum amongst the members but to also handle themselves in a manner becoming of a model member of the board, so as to set the right example for members. Now I realise that you and prehaps others may not agree with the opinion's of how dare you but nonetheless athey are valid opinion's, however you’re insulting and ignorant remarks are completely inexcusable. I believe a prompt and polite apology is in order.

"ninja 101", thank you for defending me, though I cannot defend your apostrophes. "ApeXaviour", if you believe difference of opinion is a reason for a ban, then your position as a moderator needs to be questioned.

Apart from that, encouraging an uninsured non-student to use the facilities I pay for is an absolute disgrace.

Howdareyou; seriously, grow the **** up....I haven't seen a single post of yours that isn't pointless flamebait or stupid drivel; and it's arrogant people like you who give Trinity Students a bad name.

I don't know why you want to join the Aikido club, it's rubbish. Ah, that's not fair, it's ok if you're into that kind of thing. There is an Aikido dojo on pearse street ajacent to the college but I don't know how active it is.

If you're not a student, you can join the LUCE gym (about 150 euro), afaik, you no longer need to be alumni etc. but I could be wrong. If you're not a member of the gym, or a student, or a staff member, 7/10 you won't get into the hall to train because they check for id cards. If you join, it's about 1.50 a class. What college are you at?

I'll be starting an LLB in Portobello College in October. It's a private college and they don't have many clubs besides soccer,GAA and rugby. I may try going for the rugby but I would have prefered Aikido.

I agree, although at least (s)he does it with style:

    Bitchy. :D

I agree, Crash should apoligise :)
    C'mon Neil, apoligise!
If you don't, i'm coming down to kick your ass :P

    ---

I recommend you go into town, into TCD, during freshers week.
Look around for the aikeo or whichever club you want, and then talk to them,
    Some might allow it
    Some might not
Freshers week is the 3rd - 9th of October

bla bla bla, you've made 7 ****ing posts, it gives you no right to comment on what is and what is not suitable behaviour for a mod. Apex as always was light handed in this affair( ;) ), i'd have just banned him and probally you too outright.

Howdareyou and Ninja 101 are the same person, but regardless of that I find the posts relatively entertaining. Enjoyable, well scripted thought out pieces of work

is it just me who suspects ninja101 and howdareyou of being the same person who uses double posting as a means to defend himself without seeming like he's on his own?
    just a theory...

You know, i think he's right in fairness.

Howdareyou, i am very, VERY sorry that you have a giant rod up your ass, and if i can in any way help you in finding somewhere for a swift and prompt removal, i'll do ALL i can so as to atone for my comment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭fade

in a sentence, this thread has gone to those snapping, snarling blood eyed dogs. so i rekon a swift end be dealt out.

as for GDM, i rekon your best bet is to either just ask, most societies wont care. or just go along and not say a word. its no big deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Societies generally dont care - but with clubs it can be different as you have to be a member of the gym to do some of em and you can only be a member if you're student/staff iirc, so you wouldnt be insured and all badness occurs.
