Is there any dental checkups covered by the student health centre?

I'm also interested in this. However any research (wasn't exactly extensive), didn't yield anything.

At least the dublin dental hospital: http://web1.dental.tcd.ie/ says nothing about it that I can find...

Yeah I figured if there was any dental cover it would be in there but I couldn't find anything there.

It's stupid cos as students we generally don't work up enough prsi to pay for a regular dentist.

I'm also interested in this..I need to get a tooth recapped (I had a cap on it which lasted for 10 years, but it broke one day when I was eating a banana. )

I rang the Dublin Dental hospital ages ago, and as far as I can tell, they'll do some reduced-price dental work, but there's no cover, which is quite silly.

i think you can get looked at by students in the school of dentistry for a very modest fee, 10euro or something, i'd say it probably takes abit longer to get checked out but it could be well worth your while giving them a ring (they'r located in the dental hospital beside the hamilton end of TCD)

/me hates that flaw in the system.

    from:http://www.welfare.ie/publications/sw24.html
    Under Age 21
39 paid PRSI contributions since first starting work.

    Aged 21 to 24
39 paid PRSI contributions since first starting work and 39 paid or credited PRSI contributions* in the relevant tax year on which your claim is based.

    Aged 25 to 65
260 paid PRSI contributions since first starting work and 39 paid or credited PRSI contributions * in the relevant tax year on which your claim is based."

As i'm over 25 it'll be a good while before i'll be able to claim for any dental or optical stuff on PRSI. Should have gone for a few checkups before my 25th birthday...
