Brother HL-12 Laser Printer - Repair or replace?

    I've had a Brother HL-12 for a few years.

A couple of years back, paper jammed in during printing. I pulled out the jammed sheets and, ever since, it always prints smudged or grey coated sheets.

Since I only use it for invoicing, I've lived with it. However, it has now taken a serious turn for the worse and the prints are almost illegible.

Is it worth replacing the (original) cartridge, assuming that's the problem, or should I just bite the bullet and replace it?

I want laser quality, but I have very little use for a printer other than invoicing and the occasional letter.

    Thanks.

    D.

New laser printers for low volume usage are now quite cheap (see this €140 one from elara)

I'd say that'd be your best bet.

And that is an excellent little printer.

Bought the printer from Elara. Superb! Many thanks for the tip.

Question: They told me that the cartridge that comes with it is only good for a short while. Any tips on where to buy cartriges?

    Thanks again.

I think you can buy a refill kit off ebay for like a tenner!
