Anyone who thinks WIT is to become a uni is only fooling themselves.too few of the staff have doctorates and it has no well known research centres.the head of the engineering school doesnt even have a PHD.there is no way WIT will ever become a uni with its existing calibre of student(on average have have a 100 lower points than uni students) and staff(lack of qualifications).

However the south east does need a uni, that need is obvious.what will probaly happen is that a new uni will be build on a new site.this will have nothing to do with WIT.meanwhile WIT will continue to exist happily churning out substandard graduates in its too easy degrees.

believe it or not the majority of staff in Science and Applied Arts have PhDs, and your comment on the quality of degrees is hardly helping things. Have YOU done one? Did YOU get 1st class honours? Do YOU know how good the research centres are in WIT. For your own perusal, the college has the ERG research lab, the bioremediation group, separation science, macular degeneration group, TSSG, molecular ecology, and a whole load of others. How can you say we dont do enough research? We do a heck of a lot more than a few "universities" for our size.

Also, last time I checked, the head of the school of engineering did have a phd. nice try though.

Lads don't feed the troll, there are a number of other more productive threads on the subject.
