Ok i know it can certainly be a little be nerve racking in the beginning but it will work out in the end. I built my own about a year back was a bit tough but once u know what to look for ur set.

Right what u need to do first before u decide what u want ie graphics and HDD is how much u want to add to it like PCI, PCI express etc.
This begins with the right motherboard which there are a few discrepencies with the one u choose for example Supported RAM Speed of the motherboard is PC2-4300, PC2-5300 but the ram u choose is PC3200 so it aint going to work. Best choose one from this page.

Another thing i noticed was that u choose a AMD processor and the board only takes Intel so u will either need to shell out on a Intel Pentium or just change the board.

These days all u really have to worry about is the RAM and Processor on a board since everything from dvd drives to hdd and graphics cards can be lashed in. I am guessing u choose the sound card because u have a system ready to pump the sound.

Sorry if u need more info i will give it later its getting pretty late and i need to be up early. Leave the compatibility questions if u want i can imagine thats the most difficult bit.

    Hi m8,

replying here is hard work though...

What do you want to do with it (eg gaming or surfing or editing)?

The SD card makes no sense to buy for your computer as it is for mobile devices and cameras etc. ,
to make it work with your computer you need a card-reader, and then you have
    expensive 2gb storage.
And the memory you linked to is 1024MB= 512MB + 512MB (matched pairs)
    are you going to buy that twice (2048 = 2x1024MB = 4x512MB)?
I wouldnt recommend that, especially not on Socket 939 Athlon64 boards.

The main use of the PC will be gaming, but I will probably be using it for music production aswell later on (4 months+). Thanks for pointing out the motherboard compatability issue, I would prefer to go with AMD though, so think Ill change the motherboard type. So I would need a good GFX card, getting pretty ****e fps in games now so would like to improve that, also have plans to LAN so always nice to show off a good comp. Btw, before I go any further, thanks for taking the time to reply at this time of night especially... Anyway... Yeah, so GFX is important, also the sound card as Ill be using it for music. Basically I'll need a very good PC for what Ill be doing with it. Im a bit tired myself too lads... So think Ill leave it at that and Ill get back to you tommorrow :)

if you want to create an AMD64 machine your basically looking at motherboards that are 939 pinned. which can be found here http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.asp?bn=10482

I have used ASUS / MSI & Foxconn motherboards and have always found the ASUS boards to be best! Happy hunting, btw building your own pc isn't hard. There are only so many places where the parts can go....actually NO! there is pretty much one place for each part, as long as you dont try to hook up your toaster to your cpu you'll be flying!
